Good for you for putting yourself out there, Tracey. Great questions too. Wish I had an answer for a question or two too! I love your query about authentic connections in our new world. I think libraries are infinitely larger communities with our ...

Re: Let's do this...

I gave this blog this title - because sometimes I get so anxious about putting myself out there in the world! It just takes that extra step, of taking a bit of a risk. I don't know if anyone else goes through that process of just weighing the odds - taking the plunge sometimes can be very overwhelming...I know that the online world can be supportive, awe-inspiring, and inclusive, so having put the other stuff aside "hello world". It's like letting someone you don't know read your writing, look a… Continue

All My Best Learning

All my best learning has been the flying by the seat of your pants kind of learning. It's not easier than letting someone else tell you what to do, but it is more memorable, because you are in the driver's seat discovering and making mistakes alike, to learn by. So far, in my "dive in" expe… Continue

New Beginnings

Hello to all! I am looking forward to being part of this exciting new online community. In the first two weeks of summer break I flew down east to visit Atlantic Canada. Driving around New Brunswick, PEI & Nova Scotia was such a treat. You can find my holiday pictures on Flickr

It was finally a relaxing summer after convocating in June and not having to juggle a summer course. However, the new school year is fast appro… Continue

Off to the International Association of School Librarianship Conference

I am getting excited about going to the IASL conference in Abano Terme near Padua.

We leave next Thursday so I am busy working on my presentation, organizing my time at the conference, looking through all the wonderful sessions being offered. I am also trying to finish up a million other things and get us organized to go.

I am looking forward to Aidan Chambers, Ross Todd, Carol Kuhlthau, Lesley Farmer, Delia Neuman and many others - I have just glanced at the program but it looks amazing.

I w… Continue

Gearing Up

This is the first summer "off" that I've had in a while. Either I've been taking a class, or working, or moving across the country. I must say this summer felt great, it was nice to live without deadlines for a few months. But I'm starting to think in learning mode again. My mind is making room and sweeping the cobwebs to be ready for my on-line class in the Fall. One class at a time is a snail's pace way of doing my Master's, but with 3 young boys under foot, I think I'm doing just fine. So, I'… Continue
